Guidance

This Part sets out the assistance that a member may get toward the cost of travelling in Australia. A member may get assistance with these types of travel.

  1. Travel on posting.

  2. Travel on training.

  3. Travel related to the end of a member's continuous full-time service.

    Note: In the total workforce system, a member on continuous full-time service may be described as a member in Service category 6 or 7. A member who is in Service category 3, 4 or 5 and Service option C is also on continuous full-time service.

  4. Travel on Defence business.

    1. Members on business travel use an official charge card (the Defence travel card) to pay reasonable travel costs.

    2. Use of the travel card is based on the principle that a member will neither gain nor lose financially when they travel on Defence business.
