Medical services are not limited to those provided by General Practitioners directly, and include other services provided within their general practice setting such as a general practice nurse changing a wound dressing or removing stitches.

8.9.6A Reimbursement benefit

If this amount is unused at the end of a financial year it does not carry over to future financial years.

8.9.7 Reimbursable items – Specialists, allied health services and related products

Guidance

An allied health service includes services delivered by any of the following health practitioners registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 

Audiologist 
Chiropractor 
Clinical psychologist
Dental provider (where the item is listed in the Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary) 
Dietitian 
Exercise physiologist
Occupational therapist 
Optometrist (including all prescription lenses, frames and repairs) 
Osteopath 
Physiotherapist 
Podiatrist 
Speech pathologist
