This Part provides the ADF Military Factor framework.
Under the ADF Military Factor framework, eligibility for an allowance is assessed daily and only one allowance can be paid on each day. Special rules exist (section A.1.5) which deal with when a member is eligible for more than one allowance on a day.
Each allowance is given a Military Factor tier, which is used to determine the rate of the allowance to be paid. Depending on the tier, allowances are based on either an annual rate, or a daily rate. Regardless, allowances are paid daily (section A.1.7).
Part A sets out the administration of the ADF Military Factor framework, and includes Annex A.1, which sets out the Military Factor tiers and the corresponding rates payable.
Part B sets out the allowances which recognise the responsibilities and disabilities associated with different aspects of military service and includes Annex B.1, which sets out considerations relevant to elements of hardship that members who live and work in field conditions are subjected to.
