A member maybe ineligible to receive a removal when they move house, but they might be eligible for a removal from storage.

If a person getting a removal has items in two locations, for example their current residence and a Family Benefit Location, the person can get removals from both locations.
It might not be unreasonable for a person to be granted a removal from temporary accommodation they have occupied while going through the breakdown.

Example 1: A member applies to receive a removal to Member’s Choice Accommodation in the Housing Benefit Location, but in the meantime moves into a rental property with friends. The removal was approved with the reasoning of moving to Member’s Choice Accommodation, a removal to the member’s friend’s place is not consistent with the original decision.
Example 2: If a member applies to receive a removal from the family benefit location to the current residence, the removal cannot be to a third location not considered in their application.

If a review of the storage benefit results in the benefit not being renewed, the member can elect to pay for the storage of their items no longer being stored at Defence expense or relocate the items to the member’s residence as provided under subsection 6.5.63.4

6.5.83B Privately arranged removals

If the privately arranged removal leaves items behind that the person later wishes to take with them, additional removals are at the person’s own cost. The person should ensure their eligibility to receive the benefits provided under this Division before arranging a removal under this section.
