3.4.10 Eligibility to be offered a continuation bonus
Example 1: A Lieutenant was appointed to the Army on the 16 Jan 2018, entering through Royal Military College with a 6-year Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS). The member is eligible to be offered the continuation bonus (90 days prior) on 15 January 2024 – even though they will have completed 4 years of service on 15 January 2022.
Example 2: An Aircraftman enlisted into the Air Force on 5 July 2019 as a Clerk with a 2-year IMPS. The member completed their IMPS on 4 July 2021 and completed their initial 4 years in the Air Force on 4 July 2023. As they completed their initial service obligation, and completed their initial 4 years’ service in the ADF within the window of eligibility, they will be eligible to be offered the continuation bonus.
Non-example: A Private joined the Army on 1 January 2007, with an IMPS of 3 years. The member would have completed 4 years of continuous full-time service on 1 January 2011. As they are not completing their initial service obligation or 4 years’ service within the window of eligibility, they will not be eligible to be offered the continuation bonus.
