5.7.7 Unpaid parental leave
Guidance
1. A period of unpaid parental leave has these features.
- The member is not required to remain fit or deployable.
- The member continues to receive free medical care. The member is not returned to the payroll for hospitalisation, treatment, illness or convalescence.

The member keeps their housing assistance.
2. A member should seek advice for their superannuation fund about the impact of a period of unpaid leave on their superannuation.
