Medical services are not limited to those provided by General Practitioners directly, and include other services provided within their general practice setting such as a general practice nurse changing a wound dressing or removing stitches.
8.9.6A Reimbursement benefit

If this amount is unused at the end of a financial year it does not carry over to future financial years.
8.9.7 Reimbursable items – Specialists, allied health services and related products
Guidance
An allied health service includes any of the following.
- An eligible audiologist under the Health Insurance (Allied Health Services) Determination 2014.
- A chiropractor or osteopath registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- A dentist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, including the cost of items listed by the Australian Dental Association in the Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary.
- An allied health professional for Dietary or speech therapy under the Health Insurance (Allied Health Services) Determination 2014.
- An occupational therapist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- An optometrist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, including the cost of all prescription eyewear, lenses, frames, contact lenses and repairs.
- A physiotherapist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- A podiatrist or chiropodist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- A psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
