6.5.50 Purpose

Guidance

Example for table item 3a: A member is eligible for three-bedroom housing assistance. The member occupies a one-bedroom house. The CDF must consider the size of a three-bedroom home.

6.5.53 Member who has unaccompanied resident family and no accompanied resident family

Guidance

Example: A member may wish to store a wardrobe while living in a suitable own home with built-in wardrobes. They could then use the wardrobe on a later posting where built-in wardrobes are not available.

6.5.58 Storage at a family benefit location at member's expense

6.5.59 Charges when removal is deferred

6.5.60 Storage on ceasing continuous full-time service

6.5.61 Storage on death of a member who had accompanied resident family or recognised other persons

Guidance

When the period under subsection 3 ends, the items in storage will no longer be covered by Commonwealth insurance cover. The member's resident family may wish to take out their own cover.

The removal, storage or insurance of furniture and effects that the member's resident family aquire after the death of the member is not provided under this Determination.

6.5.62 Removal to and from a storage facility

Guidance

Example: A member lives in rented furnished accommodation. They have less than six months of a posting left. They are offered a Service residence. The CDF considers that the removal of their furniture and effects from storage to the Service residence is necessary for them to occupy that residence. The CDF also considers it would be cost-effective. The CDF approves the removal.

6.5.63 Review of storage of furniture and effects

Guidance

When a member's eligibility for storage stops, Commonwealth insurance cover on the stored goods also stops. The member may wish to take out their own cover.
