You may get this payment if your life insurance premiums are higher due to your service.
Eligibility
You may claim some of your insurance costs if your premium is higher because your insurance company considers your duties to be an additional risk.
You're not eligible if you're only paying a higher premium because of the location you're serving in.
Amount you can claim
Your payment amount will be the difference between the premium you pay and what the premium would be if your duties didn't involve additional risk.
The maximum amount you can claim is $2,977 in each financial year.
Depending on your specific circumstances, you may be eligible to claim a higher amount. Speak with your administration area if you think you may be eligible.
Make a claim
You can make one claim each financial year.
Once you've paid your insurance in full, complete an Application for Reimbursement of Additional Risk Insurance Expenses (AA593) form. You can download this from the Web Forms portal on the Defence Protected Network (DPN).
