Military Superannuation and Benefits Scheme (MSBS)

While you’re serving

If you’re a member of the Reserves who is working Reserve days, Defence doesn’t contribute to your super. This is because your pay is tax free, so it doesn't qualify for superannuation payments.

If your salary or SERCAT changes during the last 3 years of your service, this will affect your Final Average Salary (FAS), which may change the amount of your final benefit.
