Flexible housing trial

Who can take part

Apply for the trial

  1. Speak with your CO to discuss your situation.

  2. Gather any supporting documents. This could be proof that your resident family member's special need is recognised by Defence or evidence of your partner's employment or enrolment in study.

  3. Complete an ADF Categorisation Change and approval to Live-In/Live-Out (AE681) form. You should complete the form as if you're applying to live-out. You can download this from the Forms portal on the Defence Protected Network (DPN).

  4. Complete a Flexible Housing Trial Application form. You can download this from the forms page on the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) website.

  5. Submit your AE681 and Flexible Housing Trial Application form to your CO for approval. Your CO will provide the approval of your housing benefit location in Minute format, should they grant it.

  6. Your CO will send your Minute and Flexible Housing Trial Application form to DHA.

  7. DHA will email you with the outcome.
