When you can be an MWD(U)

You must first have a dependant recognised by Defence before you can become an MWD(U).

You can’t add multiple periods of short-term duty together to total more than 6 months to access the full MWD(U) benefits.

You should update your categorisation as soon as your situation changes to avoid possible overpayments.
