ADF district allowance

Eligibility

When you're not eligible

Rates and payment

If you and your partner are both serving in a remote location, you'll both get the allowance, but at a lower rate.

When the allowance stops

Absence from the remote location

If you’re on any other type of leave, or if you won’t returning to the remote location when your leave finishes, your allowance will stop when you start your leave.

Moving locations

Example

You’re a member who's posted to Tindal.

You were previously posted to Darwin with accompanied resident family.

Your resident family stays in Darwin and becomes unaccompanied resident family.

The rate you were getting in Darwin is $9,770 a year.

Because you were posted from one remote location to another, and your resident family remain in the first location, your rate of allowance in Tindal is $17,105 a year.
