When the SMCAP isn't payable

Work out your years of submarine service

Rate of payment

If you’re in SERCAT 6, one day equals every 8 hours of duty in your flexible service determination, up to 80 hours per fortnight. The 8 hours do not need to be worked on the same day.

Example

You have 4 years of submarine service.

You performed 100 days of submarine service in the financial year.

To work out your payment for the year:

  1. Calculate the daily amount for your length of service
  2. $35,000 ÷ 365 = $95.89 a day
  3. Multiply the daily amount by the number of days you were eligible in the financial year
  4. $95.89 × 100 for the year = $9,589

Your amount of submarine capability assurance payment for the financial year is $9,589.

The amount is paid as part of your salary and may be taxed.
