Long service leave

Every day counts towards your period of LSL including weekends and public holidays.

When you can get LSL

Taking your LSL

A month is measured from the start date of your leave to the day before the same date in the next month, no matter how many days there are in that period of time.

Example

15 July to 14 August (31 days) and 9 February to 8 March (28 days) are both considered to be one month.

If you take less than one month of leave, a month is measured as a fraction of a 30-day month.

Example

0.7 x 30 = 21 days.

For each year after that, you'll get 0.3 of a month (9 days) of credit.

Paying out long service leave

For leave that’s paid out, a month’s salary is calculated as one twelfth of your annual salary, no matter how many days are in that month.
