Remote location leave travel (RLLT) Scheme A

Eligibility

Travel benefits

The actual cost of a holiday package is used when components of the package are not costed separately. If the package invoice is itemised, you will only be reimbursed for the travel component.

Accrue your RLLT

Use your RLLT

Defer your RLLT

Example

You're posted to Darwin, which is a Grade B location.

You're expected to be there for 2 years.

You get 2 RLLT benefits the day you arrive in the location.

You don't use your benefits in the first year in the location and they expire.

You get 2 new benefits at the start of your second year. You think you won't get to use the benefits in your second year, so you apply to defer the expiry.

If you're in a Grade A remote location and you have an unused benefit on 10 November 2022, the expiry date that applies to that unused benefit won't change.

Advance your RLLT

Example

You’re posted to Broken Hill, which is a Grade A location.

You're expected to be there for 3 years.

You get one RLLT benefit the day you arrive in the location.

You use your benefit in June in your first year. You then apply to use a benefit that you would get at the start of your second year early so you make two trips in your first year.

You can only advance one benefit at a time.
